Della Hudson FCA is the founder of three businesses, the author of three books, and the mother of two teens. When not travelling for business she works from home in Backwell in North Somerset where her office overlooks the garden and the hills beyond.
While her father was serving in the army she was at school in Somerset on a maths scholarship. Della lived around the world and picked up five languages before settling back in the South West. Most of her early career was as financial controller/director in multinational engineering and other businesses and she also did a stint in IT.
In 2009 she set up her first accountancy practice to fit around her small kids and began a separate coaching business in 2017. She’s published three business books with one win at the business book awards and another finalist. She also co-authored the Bloomsbury Tax Planning handbook for a number of years. As a result Della is often asked to speak at accountancy conferences and other events as well as being a member of ICAEW council. She is a firm believer in work – life balance and also a technophile so Minerva automate everything practical in order to spend their time focusing on what is important to their clients.
In her free time Della does triathlons (very slowly) and enjoys cooking and eating with friends. Oh yes, she’s a tea addict too.
Thanks to her hard work, dedicated study and obvious passion for adding value to others, Della has won a number of awards and accolades, including being listed in the Accountancy Age Top 50 Women in Finance and the Practice Ignition Top 50 Women in Accountancy.
She was also voted Most Inspirational Member of the Accounting and Bookkeeping Support Group and was shortlisted in the British Accounting Marketing Awards, as well as being consistently ranked in the top 10 of the Avalara Accounting Top 100. In 2021 she was made a Companion of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers in appreciation of the work that she does to support them.
Della was named as one of Tide Bank’s 20 Female Entrepreneurs to watch in 2020. Right before Covid and lockdowns turned the business world upside down!
